How did you discover streetlifting?
I discovered streetlifting because I have been doing weight training for 10 years, and it is a practice that is genuinely spreading in gyms. And it also came through my coach, who pushed me to get into the discipline.
Why did you decide to compete at the FNSL Northeast?
To qualify for the French nationals.
Were the weighted muscle ups easy or mission impossible?
50/50. The weighted muscle up is really an all-or-nothing movement – sometimes it goes really well and other times not so much. At my last competition in October I had better muscle up attempts than today, but I got through them and that is what matters. From here I will work on that movement.
Did you hit your weighted pull-up attempts or were you left wanting more?
Yes, I hit a PR at 32.5 kg pretty easily. I was a bit disappointed not to have dared to go for 35, but there it is.
And on the weighted dips?
Same story. A PR at 40 kg, so I am very happy because that was a weight I had missed at the Espoirs competition back in October. Again, a bit gutted for not going heavier, but that will be for next time.
And with all that accumulated fatigue, how did you feel going into the squats?
Honestly pretty good, because the competition ran quite quickly overall. It was very well organized. We got to the squat at around 1:00 or 1:30 pm, so there was not too much fatigue built up.
If you had to sum up your competition in one word?
I would say accomplishment.
